DNT OTA Firmware Update Guide

DNT Optics Jul 09, 2026

This guide explains how to update your DNT optic via the DNT App using over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates. It applies to most DNT digital optics, except the NVMD-C200 and TNC225R.

Before You Begin

Before starting the OTA firmware update, make sure your optic and mobile device meet the following requirements:

  • Battery: Ensure the optic has at least 50% battery remaining, or keep it connected to a stable external power source throughout the update.

  • DNT App: Update the DNT App to the latest version before beginning.

  • Power: Do not press the Power button, disconnect external power, or otherwise interrupt power during the update process.

DNT OTA Firmware Update Steps

  1. Enable Wi-Fi on your optic:

Ensure the optic is powered on and its Wi-Fi is turned on.

  2. Connect to the DNT App:

Open the DNT App and prepare to connect your optic. To establish the connection, go directly to your phone's Wi-Fi settings, select your optic's Wi-Fi network, and enter the default password: 12345678. Once connected, return to the DNT App.

  3. Start the firmware update:

On the Device page in the App, tap Firmware Update. The download process differs slightly between iOS and Android.

    • iOS: The app automatically checks for the latest firmware, downloads it, and begins the installation. (Note: The firmware is downloaded using your mobile data because your phone remains connected to the optic's Wi-Fi network.)

    • Android: Android requires switching between internet connections twice during the update:

      • When prompted, connect to your home Wi-Fi or use cellular data to download the firmware.

      • When prompted again after the download is complete, reconnect to the optic's Wi-Fi to transfer the firmware.

  4. Complete the Installation: Once the firmware has been transferred to the optic, it will automatically power off and restart. (Note: Do not manually power off or restart the optic unless instructed.) The power indicator will blink orange to indicate the update is installing. Wait until the indicator glows solid blue, then check the optic's display.

    • If the optic starts normally: Navigate to "System Settings" and verify that the firmware version matches the latest release.

    • If you see an update progress pop-up: Wait for the update to finish and the pop-up to disappear. If the optic does not restart automatically after the update is complete, manually power it back on and verify the firmware version in "System Settings".
